Hospital Admissions

Inpatient Admissions

Thank you for choosing Moore County Hospital District for your healthcare needs.


Our main entrance is located in the new patient care addition at 224 E. 2nd Street.  It is the entrance for all patients and visitors, including inpatient, emergency, and outpatient.  Inpatient admissions area staffed regular hours between 7:30am and 5:30pm and emergency admissions are available after hours.  Our staff will direct you where to go at the welcome desk when you arrive.


We want to make your admission as stress free as possible.  If you are being admitted directly from your primary care physician's office, your doctor should provide you with orders detailing how your care should proceed.  Please bring this paperwork with you when you come.  Having them handy will greatly speed up this process and prevent any undesired delays.


You will also need to bring any insurance information you may have along with a picture ID when you register.


Our courteous staff will try to assist you in any way they can, so if you have any questions please call 806-935-7171 and our receptionist will direct you to the person who can best assist you.


If you are pre-admitting for a future admission, it is also recommended to contact your insurance company beforehand for pre-certification.  This helps you know  what your insurance company covers so there will be no surprises about what they will cover for your stay.




If you are taking any medication, including prescribed, over the counter, and/or herbal medications, please make yourself a list and let your doctor and nurse know about it.  This is very important because even herbal medications can have adverse effects if they are combined with certain other medications.  It is also very important that you do not take any medication during your stay except for what the doctor prescribes you and is provided by your nurse.  Our staff takes precautions to make certain that what you take not only is the best combination for your treatment and recovery, but that the medications you take do not have adverse reactions when combined.  They will also verify through a bar-code system that you are the correct person receiving the correct medication in the correct combination and dosage.  This system provides an extra step of safety for you, so please be patient with our staff when they repeat questions about your name and medications.


If you have questions or concerns about your medications, please ask your nurse or doctor.  We want our patients to be an active part of their care and questions are encouraged.



Personal Belongings

We recommend that you please do not bring valuables and other personal property with you to the hospital during your admissions.  Though we do our best to safeguard the items you bring with you, we cannot be held responsible for any loss or theft of personal items, and anything of value should be left at home.


Examples of what not to bring are: personal electric appliances or electronics  (Hair dryer, curlers, heating pads, radios, cell phones, tablets, laptops, etc.) and jewelry.  Please be certain that if you do bring your wallet/purse, for your safety, please remove credit cards and debit cards that you do not plan or need to use, excess amounts of paper money, or any personal items that can not be easily replaced.



Outpatient Procedures

If you are visiting us for an outpatient procedure such as a day surgery, blood draw, or an imaging procedure such as a bone density scan, CT scan, or x-ray, we can pre-admit you before the scheduled day and time of your procedure.  We hope by doing this we will reduce your stress on the day you have the procedure and, in some instances such as a repeated blood draw, will only need to be done once.  By pre-admitting you, we can also prevent any issues that may arise such as an insurance issue or scheduling conflict.

Patient Care Survey

Our goal is to provide you with Exception Care Always.  After you receive care in our facility, you may receive a phone call surveying you about your care. Please take time to answer the survey as this helps us continue to improve our processes and offer quality services.  The third party administrator of these surveys is Press Ganey, and they are authorized to ask questions about your care.



Non Smoking Campus

Moore County Hospital District has a non-smoking campus. Patients and visitors are prohibited from smoking near any entrance, covered or uncovered, inside any building, or any place on MCHD property.  Consumption of alcoholic beverages is also not allowed on the MCHD campus.



Patient-Centered Care

We encourage our patients to be a central part of their care and recovery and want you to understand both the reasoning of your care during your stay and how to best proceed to full recovery when your care inside of our walls is over.  Please ask questions if at any time you do not understand why something is being provided to you during your stay.  Our discharge planners will also provide information to you when you are ready to leave that will help your recovery at home.  They will be glad to answer any questions you may have or help you find any resources you may need to help you get and stay well.
